Running with a Great Partner 8th June 2015
I-AM London’s very own designer, Hari Milburn, took marathon running to a new level with the help of her new piece of must-have trusted technology, the Garmin Vivo Active watch.
Brushing off the droves that tackle the streets for the annual London Marathon, Hari instead opted to fly to Rome to battle the 26-mile course on a slightly tougher cobbled surface.
Hari, who was running to raise funds and awareness of Leukemia and Lymphoma Research following a request from her grandfather, a former sufferer, and also for her cousin Stu Ridley who has recently been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, was helped along through her rigid training and on race day thanks to clients Garmin, who supplied her with the Vivo Active watch – enabling her to constantly measure her development, timing and performance.
“Training during the winter was probably the hardest part, getting up early on a cold, dark morning isn’t fun! – but Garmin’s generosity helped me to focus and set goals, which was amazing,” she said.
Rain welcomed her on the big day and managing the slippery surface was an added concern, but after months of preparation the end was in sight and she was able to still enjoy the beautiful location.
“Rome is really stunning and the atmosphere was so exciting, even if the cheers were mostly in Italian! The conditions were far from ideal and there were a lot more cobbled areas than I expected but still really pleased I chose to run the course in Rome,” Hari added.
Hari raised an impressive £1,670 charity.
