Tampopo Restaurant Brand Application & Interior Design
In 2015, I-AM worked with Tampopo founder David Fox on a fresh facelift for their existing restaurant in Manchester’s Corn Exchange.
An Ambitious Step Forward for the Tampopo Brand
Of the project, David said: Working with the I-AM team has been a pleasure. The brief was to communicate a feel that took the Tampopo design forward. The thought in my head (worked up with I-AM) has been interpreted and translated into reality. This takes great listening and great design skills, which I-AM deliver in spades.
The interior design is intentionally reminiscent of an Asian street food market with bespoke, colourful tiling and lanterns, commercial light boxes and vintage Asian advertisements. This idea of variety is carried through into the eclectically designed seating areas. As well as a stand-alone bar, there is also a private dining area nestled beneath the colourful pendants and metal vintage artwork.
The vibrancy of colour and design choices mark an ambitious step forward for the Tampopo brand and creates the perfect backdrop for a menu that takes diners on a tour of East Asian cuisine.
