I-AM Interviews: Bryce 4th January 2017

With the launch of our first internship competition, we’re bringing you a series of interviews that delve into agency life, highlighting the diverse range of work and unique atmosphere found at I-AM. In this first interview we talk to Bryce, a graphic designer in our London studio…

Where did you first find out about I-AM, what attracted you to the agency?

I heard about I-AM through a previous employer who is close friends with our Operations Manager. I had built up a good relationship with him and he organised for me to come up from Plymouth for an interview.

How did your experience of joining the team differ from how you imagined it?

I imagined it would be a lot more ‘Shoreditch-y’ than it is. Everyone is a lot more down-to-earth than I had expected. I’ve also been quite surprised at the social/work-life balance. At times it feels like I’m still a student with the amount of partying that can go on, but the work is far more rewarding now.

What has been your favourite project?

Working with large clients like Enterprise and KFC has been very interesting as you get to see what goes on behind the scenes of these companies and the extent of the brand strategy that continuously needs to be developed and implemented. The smaller start-up companies are also great as you can get involved in developing the initial brand story and guidelines. However, I think the most fun projects I have been involved with have been the internal Christmas card each year. It’s a creative opportunity to really show the nature of I-AM and get to know everyone’s individual character.

What advice would you give the second year BKR?

Keep going! Bust your ass to meet the deadlines but don’t forget to celebrate afterwards. Network and surround yourself with like-minded people who are driven, social and have a good eye for detail. Enjoy it. Projects can be stressful but only as much as you make them.

What’s the best thing about working at I-AM?

It has to be the positive approach to all stages of a project.

Cheers Bryce!
